Let’s Get Married!

Legal Only Wedding Ceremony

The Process

** The Notice of Intended Marriage Form **

The first step to getting married is to complete the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) form.

I can help with that!

I can send you an online questionnaire which will gather your information to complete the Notice of Intended Marriage.

You will have a chance to review all the details and the form in its entirety to check for any errors.

An invoice will be issued in conjunction with the NOIM. Full payment will be required.

** Meeting **

We will conduct a zoom meeting whereby I can virtually witness your signing of the NOIM.

For this, you will need to have access to a printer (to print the NOIM), a computer with a camera / or phone with camera.

Our zoom meeting will go for approximately 15 minutes, we will chat about your understanding of the NOIM and I will ask for you to point the camera to the page for me to witness your signing.

You’ll then scan / take a photo of the signed NOIM and sent it through to me by email the same day as our meeting for lodgement. (Failure to send the same day will result in non-lodgement and a new meeting will be required to complete the zoom meeting to re-sign. A fee of $100 will be applicable to the reschedule).

Legal timeframe requirement - There must be minimum of ONE month waiting period before you can be married. The date signed can get the ONE month waiting period started.

Identification - You will need to provide photos of your passports (or birth certificates) and drivers licences (they do not need to be certified) and divorce/death certificates if you have been previously married. This must be received before the ceremony date.

** Ceremony Date **

It is okay if you don’t have a ceremony date yet, by emailing the NOIM form commences the waiting period and then you can be married anytime in the following 18 months.

A courtesy 4 day notice is asked for to allow for preparation of the legal paperwork for you.

If you know your date, and I have availability, this will be the date nominated on your NOIM. (For availability, we can discuss).

** Witnesses **

You will need two people as witnesses to your legal ceremony and to sign the official paperwork.

These two witnesses can be related or not related and must be over the age of 18 years.

If you would like a witness to be provided by the celebrant, two weeks notice is required.

** Get Married **

Once your have advised of location, it’s time to get married! I’ll arrive onsite 10 minutes before ceremony start time and then it’s go-time.

You will have additional documentation to sign, and I will show this to you before commencing your ceremony.

** Official Certificate issued by the Office of Births, Deaths and Marriages **

If you have nominated to receive your registered certificate from the Office of Births, Deaths and Marriages (additional fee of $100), the certificate will be issued once the Office have registered the marriage paperwork. No need to apply online.

If you have not nominated to received your registered certificate from the Office of Births, Deaths and Marriages, and you wish to apply for the certificate yourself, this can be done via the Office of Births, Deaths and Marriages website.

The timeframe for processing is up to 28 business days (4 weeks).
